Dear Parents,
What a busy month the month of September was in Scoil Bhride. Read on to find out all of our news!
Tidy Towns Collaboration:
I am sure you will agree that the front of our school is looking fantastic. Beautiful wildflowers at the entrance, plants and the fabulous new school stone sign. Thank you so very much to Tidy Towns for making this happen.
Flag Poles:
Our new flag poles arrived yesterday and so we will be flying our green flags and Gaelbhratach proudly. Thank you to Art and the pupils who will take on the responsibility to put up and take down the flags daily.
Drumming workshops:
The drumming workshops have started this week. You may recall these same workshops this time last year. The pupils loved them and so we decided to hold them again this year. Thank you to the Parent Council for their support in part funding this.
STEM:
A local company Takeda will come to visit our school and will do a STEM workshop with our 5th and 6th class pupils later this month. This is an exciting new collaboration which we hope may continue for the school.
Gaelic Football:
GAA matches will hopefully continue next week after this spell of bad weather. Thank you to Ms Maye, Ms McCabe and Ms Murphy for all their time and effort in training the teams.
Choir:
Choir started back yesterday. Thank you to Ms Ryan and Lorraine for leading this initiative.
New Language Curriculum Day:
The school will be closed for Department of Education training on Tuesday 8th October.
Nut and Kiwi allergy:
We remind all parents that we have pupils with severe nut and kiwi allergies in the school. Please consistently check that your child’s lunch has no nuts, kiwis or Nutella. Even if there is no pupil with an allergy in your child’s class, we still need you to be as vigilant in this serious matter of health and safety.
BOM Parent Nominees:
The new Board of Management in all school start at the end of November. The Board of Management are responsible for the management of the school. Each BOM has two parent nominees. We are extremely thankful to the parents who have given their time so generously to the school over the past four years. The new parent nominees will be elected at the Parent Council AGM on October 21st. I will send a separate notice regarding this.
Junior Infant Parent Information Session:
Due to the bad weather warning the meeting for parents of Junior Infant parents on “How Best to Support Your Child” has been postponed until Thursday October 10th at 7pm. The following links might be helpful and will be discussed next week.
