News Update

Dear Parents,

I was delighted to see all the pupils back safe and sound after the mid-term break. Our pastoral theme for November is respect. We will be looking for pupils showing respect for themselves, others and our environment.

We have lots of news to share with you. Read on to find out more.

Peace Proms:

Our 5th class went to their first rehearsal for the upcoming Peace Proms concert yesterday. This is a very exciting venture for the pupils who have been practicing hard over the past few weeks.

Mini Scientist:

5th class are very busy as they are also involved in the mini scientist competition. There have been some very exciting entries and the showcase will take place in the school on Friday 15th November. Thank you to Mrs Durnin, Mr O Reilly and Peter Wilson for his support.

JEP:

You may have noticed our new JEP flag flying outside the school. This is to show that our 6th class are once again engaging in the Junior Enterprise Programme. It will be a busy year ahead for them and now they are turning their talents to deciding what enterprise they can work on in the coming months. Thank you to 6th class and Ms Ryan for all their work on this exciting programme.

Shoe Boxes:

This year we are again supporting the Hope Shoe Christmas box appeal. I am amazed at the fantastic support this has received. Thank you to each and every family who have supported this. Have  a look at the picture below to see the great response we have had.

Tidy Towns:

The Kilbride Tidy Towns group won 4 awards at the Ashbourne Municipal District “Pride Of Place 2019” Awards in Ashbourne last week and last night Kilbride was awarded the best village/townland category at the Meath County Council “Pride of Place 2019” awards in Navan.

At both award ceremonies special mention was made of the interaction between Scoil Bhride and the Tidy Towns group. We are delighted to be involved in such a worthwhile project and congratulate the Tidy Town committee for their constant work in making Kilbride the best village.

Parent Teacher Meetings:

Parent teacher meetings take place on the 13th and 20th of November for pupils from 1st to 6th class. This year parent meetings for infants will take place on the 15th and 22nd of January. As you are aware we are using Aladdin Connect to organise our Parent Teacher meetings this year. A big thank you to Bernie for setting this new system up.

Christmas Cards:

Our Parent Council are once again organising a Christmas cards fundraiser. Thank you to them for all the work involved in this busy project.

Student Council:

We have a new Student Council who have been recently elected. I look forward to working with them during the year ahead. Thank you to Ms Gannon for organising.
